Memo for a patient who received dentures supported by dental implants
Thank you for choosing the State Autonomous Healthcare Institution “SP No. 35 of the Moscow Health Department” to provide qualified dental orthopedic care.
We guarantee that safe, certified, high-quality dental construction materials were used in dental orthopedic treatment.
- Fixed dentures on implants (crowns, bridges), just like natural teeth, should be brushed twice a day after meals with a toothbrush (soft, manual or electric brushes, single-tuft, interdental brushes are suitable) and toothpaste. In addition, after each meal, the mouth should be rinsed with water to remove food debris.
- Use toothpastes with a low content of abrasive fillers, with a NaF content of 0.2% and below, close to a neutral hydrogen index (with a pH of 7.0, but not less than pH 6.2).
- Floss once a day using dental floss, tape or a special floss with a holder. Floss should be used to clean the entire circumference of the implant, not just the contact points. Visually inspect the floss after use: if the floss is frayed or frayed, there may be tartar and/or excess cement. In this case, consult your doctor.
- Rinse your mouth twice a day with alcohol-free mouthwashes. After rinsing, refrain from eating or drinking for 30 minutes.
- Use the irrigator once or twice a day, setting it to low power. Direct the water flow horizontally, 0.5 cm away from the smooth surface of the tooth/crown. Do not direct the water flow into the gingival sulcus or periodontal pocket.
- When choosing hygiene methods and means, you should consult with your doctor.
- If the prosthesis is fixed with temporary cement, it is not recommended to chew gum or other sticky foods.
- To avoid breakage of the prosthesis, chipping of the facing material, as well as damage to the oral mucosa, it is not recommended to gnaw and chew very hard foods (for example, crackers, nuts, candies such as toffees and lollipops, etc.), bite off large pieces (for example, a whole apple), as this can lead to damage or breakage of the crown, bridge prosthesis on implants.
- In case of chipping of the facing material or breakage of the prosthesis, as well as in case of disruption of fixation of a fixed prosthesis (“slurping”, mobility of the prosthesis, bad breath), in case of pain in the area of the implants, inflammation of the gums around the implants (bleeding gums), it is necessary to consult your doctor.
- Removable dentures on implants should be cleaned with a separate toothbrush and toothpaste until the denture is completely cleaned of soft plaque. Instead of toothpaste, special solutions can be used after each meal.
- At night, it is necessary to place the denture in a cleaning solution in a special container or leave the removable denture in the oral cavity during sleep, if this does not cause obvious discomfort.
- Combinations of sudden changes in food temperature (such as hot coffee or ice cream) should be avoided.
- In the first year, to assess the condition of implants and prostheses, as well as to perform professional oral hygiene, it is necessary to visit the dentist as prescribed. Thereafter - every 6 months.
- You should inform your doctor in case of problems arising as a result of using orthopedic structures, tooth loss and dental treatment in other medical institutions.
