Campaign “Moscow Doctors for Veterans”

03.04.2024

Every year, to celebrate Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, the Moscow Department of Health organizes (from April 1 to May 15, 2024) an awareness-raising and preventive campaign “Moscow Doctors for Veterans.”

The purpose of the event is to strengthen and preserve the health of the older generation, to provide useful advice and recommendations to every veteran.

Therefore, GAUZ “SP No. 35 DZM” has prepared some useful tips on how to keep your teeth healthy throughout your life:

  • Regular brushing and flossing

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing daily help remove plaque and prevent the development of tooth decay and gum disease. Using fluoride toothpaste and an antibacterial mouth guard will help protect your teeth and gums from infections.

  • Regular visits to the dentist

Visiting your dentist at least twice a year for professional cleanings and examinations allows potential problems to be identified and treated early. Your dentist can also provide recommendations for caring for your teeth and gums, tailored to your individual needs.

  • Proper nutrition

A diet rich in calcium, phosphorus, vitamins A, C and D helps strengthen tooth enamel and gums. Vegetables, fruits, dairy products and fish should be included in your diet. Avoid excessive consumption of sugar and acidic foods, which can damage tooth enamel.

  • Taking care of dry mouth

As people age, many people experience dry mouth, which can contribute to the development of tooth decay. Regularly moisturizing your mouth, using oral moisturizers, and drinking enough water will help combat this problem.

  • Caring for your dentures

If you use dentures, be sure to clean and disinfect them regularly. It is also important to have them checked regularly by your dentist.

Taking care of your teeth in old age requires care and regularity, but the results are worth it. Healthy teeth and gums will allow you to smile, talk and enjoy your favorite foods without worry.
